Doctor Who 30 Day Challenge: Day 05 (Pt.3) - Your Favorite Companion - Leela of the Sevateem

Leela was a warrior of the Sevateem tribe in the distant future on an unnamed planet.  She joined the Doctor looking for an escape from her home, and forced her way on the ship and started the TARDIS before the Doctor could stop her.  Leela is possibly one of the most badass companions to ever join the Doctor, and at the same time she could be extremely nice, to her friends of course.  She left after falling in love with a Time Lord named Andred on Gallifrey. where is this from omg?????

One day I will re-listen to Zagreus and actually understand it. One day…

India India India~!

The Douglas Adams Society is the most amazing thing I’ve ever been too and it’s full of wonderful, wonderful nerds including people in real life who have listened to Big Finish.

So after introductions (mostly of people who weren’t there), learning that the Doug Soc Constitution states that we’re not allowed to make Douglas Adams references, that the rules are “Don’t tell health and safety”, “Don’t tell health and safety”, “It never happened” and “Something else we’ve forgotten”, we divided into teams to play a game which involved hitting each other with inflatables. I played in the round “Reverse Death” in which I started off killed by an inflatable daffodil, in a Terror of the Autons reference that some people actually understood and I won it. (That is, I had most points at the end of the round, but over time the Secretary tends to change the points a bit. Which is useful for knowing who won when the number of points earned can start out as “Tim”.)

Then we invaded a common room to drink Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters (apparently the only reference we’re allowed) and headed out to a pub afterwards. So I went to a pub for the first time since starting Uni, something I wasn’t sure I’d ever actually do, because the company was almost as amazing as on tumblr and I spent most of the evening discussing Classic Who and how stupid Romney is.

And I just had the best conversations, telling people who knew little or nothing about Big Finish how much they needed to get into it, listening to the story of how Doug Soc met Bonnie Langford, yelling at a girl who thought Paul McGann was hot in the movie but really not any longer (I think I said, “Even I think he’s attractive and I don’t even fancy him!” and then told her to listen to him singing), talking about our favourite Big Finishes with a guy dressed as Eight, laughing with people about how almost every cliffhanger in Trail of a Time Lord is a close up of Six’s face  and just generally having an amazing. And I have never in my life been so confident talking to new people. Or people in general. And I just have all the best feelings now.
